Rear Footrests

#1 PostAuthor: GBZ1000 » Fri Jun 09, 2023 9:28 am

Looking for help to solve a puzzle on the rear footrests. I was looking to order some new footrest rubber bushes, but the ZPower website and the Haynes manual show a different rear footrest arrangement that the ones on my bike.

I’ve attached a couple of photos that show how my rear footrests are mounted. Are they wrong for a 1977 Z1000A1. And if so, can anybody help me understand what is going on?

I’m aware that the brackets have been cut and welded for some reason, but the Haynes manual shows the rear foot rests bolted directly to a tubular frame section. Mine has a “flat” plate carrying the footrests.

They are correct but someone has sawn off the original mounting that was circular & threaded to 10mm & have just welded a piece of flat steel in its place

The footrests are correct, someone has added or welded a metal bracket on. Same for Z650

Correct. Looks like yours had rotted out at the bottom half and po has sourced good ones and chopped off the rotted part and welded on good half. Shame they didn't take the time to get them straight and clean the weld up.

Thanks for the pic and the feedback Warren. Apologies for the delayed reply, but I’m still not getting notifications on replies to my posts.

Similar to Z650 but mounted totally different position and angle on a Z650.
