Z900 rear wheel fitment (yet more issues)

Re: Z900 rear wheel fitment (yet more issues)
Just had a thought. When you tighten the axle nut up ( with 3 washers and no play in the wheel) does the wheel turn freely? If it doesn't, then you're compressing the wheel bearings and by implication the spacer rod between the 2 wheel bearings is too short. So perhaps 1 of those washers you have is to space out the bearings better and prevent compression when the axle nut is tightened ( had this problem with a Hodna I was rebuilding - the spacer rod was too short for the replacement wheel so needed packing out to prevent the bearings binding when the axle nut was tightened. ( that would explain why the washers are big and ugly - cos inside the wheel they won't be seen.)

Thanks for reply, that is a possibility, however if i tighten up the axle, with washers added on the end then the wheel still turns as it should with no discernable play side to side. Its really strange as everything appears as it should be but it wont fully tighten. I may strip wheel down again and see what its like with a washer either side of spacer.
What i dont know is if these washers were present to bring it back into allinement. Nothings ever easy! That said its my own fault for not taking more notice on stripdown, relying on manuals doesnt always work! My Bad!
