Cleaning wiring harness

#1 PostAuthor: redzee » Sun Jun 04, 2023 5:40 pm

Guy's,

Any top tips on cleaning a wiring harness? Block connectors are not too bad, but white ones are yellowed. Tape pretty good, but needs a bit of patching up.

Some guys in the RD Club have put them in the washing machine, but the thought of the wire flexing repeatedly and work hardening rules that option out. I have contact cleaner for the connector pins, just need to deep clean the rest.
Cheers

Hi.
Definatly do not use a washing machine for anything other than clothes!
If the tapes tatty replace the local damaged section with a good quaulity replacement like Scotch 3M Super 88 vinyl tape.
For cleaning use a non solvent based fluid like Motorex Moto Clean applied sparingly with a soft brush and wipe off with a clean dry cloth.
If the connectors are damaged various replacements can be purchased online.
