wrong sidestand or brain fade?

#1 PostAuthor: Peteypops23 » Thu Jan 12, 2023 8:34 pm

:(
OK guys, just started to fit the new 4-4 pipes onto my kz900a4 and either I've completely arsed something up or I've got the wrong sidestand fitted....please hellllllp
The sidestand hits the top pipe and completely misses the rubber !

I've had a look at the sidestand on the z1000 and it has two 'pins', for want of a better word, at right angles to the stand....this one just has an outside one?

Mount for the rubber stop looks to be welded in the wrong place. Mine appears to be lower and pointing downwards more unless it's a camera angle illusion. Mine are original exhausts.

Not sure mate, might be the camera.....
The stand completely misses it and hits the pipe level with the top rear weld.

The stand seems very straight, unlike the z1000 one, but maybe it's wrong too?

jings! Thanks for the photos mate... Well for now, I've put my z1000 one on and bent one of the 'pins' so at least it doesn't hit the pipe

It's not right but it'll have to do at the moment.
There's no movement in the pipes so will probably end up welding a plate onto the original sidestand. :??

That's off a "J" by the looks of it. I've got one of those also. See if I can find pic. Back in a sec!

Cause the angle you can't see the second spring for the stand cut out switch.

Evening guys,
All is now well in the shed....got a new sidestand from z-power today and it fits like a proverbial glove.....
The new, correct, stand is on the left with the one that came with the bike on the right

right and wrong

I assume PO just fitted any stand as the bike came with a 4-1 pipe.
It's always the simple things eh?
