Hi , i'm looking for someone ( hopefully local ) who can undertake an engine rebuild on my 1977 Z1000a1. Seems to have low oil flow/pressure . I'm in B65 Birmingham area . Any help / suggestions much appreciated .

They are low pressure anyway. What makes you think it has low oil pressure? If the oil idiot light doesn't go out its more likely to be the oil pressure switch being sticky from being layed up.
If the idiot light doesn't come at all its going to be a wiring issue.
For it to be really a low pressure issue it might be the pump guaze a bit clogged.

The engine had a knocking noise . Removed the cam cover and there was no oil . Drained the oil and could see very fine metalic particles , Removed sump plate , removed oil pump . Pump was within spec when checked between gear and body with feeler gauges but has excessive end float and side wear to alloy body. I would strip it myself but i don't have the room to do the job ( tiny single garage ).

are the metallic particles attracted to a magnet? ie steel ?
(Maybe a bit irrelevant if its going to get stripped anyway)

Never thought to try the magnet thing and dumped the oil a while ago .
