Can anyone help..... I need a MK2 Points housing, there seem to be a lot of used ones on ebay but they all say 73 - 79. Does anyone no if these are the same, will fit the Mk2 1980 please?
Cheers

Re: Points Housing
No expert but I think they are the same, assuming the part you need is 14032-083?

Re: Points Housing
Think they will fit Rob but earlier ones are a more domed shape.
Pretty sure I've got a mk2 one in then shed. I'll go dig it out and post a pic.
Od 120mm
Hole c to c 103mmm
None of the scuffs are deep and will polish out easily.

Re: Points Housing
Depends what you want or how you interpret "housing"
Housing (to me) is 14032-083 (same as early bikes)
cover is 14025-1037 (different to early bikes)
Google the 2 part numbers above to get pictures

Re: Points Housing
Good point John. I read that as cover. Never needed to replace the actual housing on any bike. Plenty of covers though!

Re: Points Housing
Hi Warren
the picture is from the points cover of a Z1100A (ZXT10A). It's the same cover of the Z1000J.
The points cover of a MK2 is the same as the one of the Z1000ST.
It has horizontal stripes and the word "Kawasaki" is on it. The recessed area is painted black.

Re: Points Housing
If its the actual housing / casing like JonnZ2 says, they're the same BUT If memory serves me right, the OIL SEAL for the end of the crank is different for Mk2's Somebody on this forum can probably check the oil seal part numbers for A3/A4 (Mk2) vs A1/A2 / Z900 and confirm ?
Re: Points Housing
I refer to the housing guys….. not the cover, the bottom of mine has been smashed along with the cover…. Severe road trauma

Re: Points Housing
….. yes, sorry for not being more specific. Is the seal the same on the mk2/A4/1980, I am sure they will all bolt on but I am too lazy to check the part numbers
….thought someone would know

Re: Points Housing
Hi Rob, maybe worth a new post on bike help specific to the oil seal ? Somebody will know.
The Mk2 bikes are A3 and A4 79 and 80 and are the same - (assuming a Mk2 crank is in there !) The 1000St Shaft E1 /E2 is also the same.
For these Mk2 and ST bikes, the auto advance has a metal collar on the backside which sits over the end of the crank where the oil seal is - on Z1 / Z900 /A1 / A2 /Z1R- D1 this collar is not used and the advancer is held central by the mounting bolt.
BECAUSE OF THE COLLAR I think the oil seal might be different but if somebody has access to parts / drawings they can provide part numbers !!

Re: Points Housing
Rob, as an alternative; disregard the above message. Buy a housing / casing off ebay and check the seal against the one in your existing broken housing - IF its different press the seals out and swap them over.......
Re: Points Housing
....and theres me thinking it would be a simple answer
I will check the parts lists!
