Re: Starter motor problem
Try switching the kill switch from off to run a few times to clean the internal contacts. I assume you are trying it with the kill switch in the run position?

Re: Starter motor problem
Chances are it's going to be a kill switch fault. They aren't the most robust internally.
Easy to check if it's the starter motor, just whip it out, place on the floor and stick your foot on it. Earth the body and live to the terminal and see if it spins up.

Re: Starter motor problem
Right have now got the starter going it was the four way connector from the headlamp under the tank I thought great but now I have NO spark I have Dyna s ignition fitted so have pulled each connector for this in turn cleaned bullets with fine sandpaper to bright metal and made sure each connection was tight tried spinning motor after each one and no spark at any of the plugs.
If I had any hair would have pulled it all out.
What do I look at next I have no electrical testing gear.
Any help much appreciated is driving me nuts

Re: Starter motor problem
At the very least make up a test bulb as you need some way of test if you have live at various points.
Better still go buy a multimeter, they are only £20.

Re: Starter motor problem
I hope not off topic but has anyone done a "Big4" full starter motor rebuild thread on here or does anyone know of a good one?

Re: Starter motor problem
no spark at all , on any cylinder suggests to me kill switch, the block connector for the R switchgear, ignition switch or the block connector that feeds it, or a fuse ( but then you might have no idiot lights too). If you've got the tank off then easy to check the block connectors and see if 1 pin on a block connector has been pushed back and isn't making good contact
