Repro Indicators

I'm looking at getting a set of repro indicators for my A4, my thought is use a bit of repro stuff to get the bike on the road this year and then get the real stuff chromed or refinished at some point in the future, so my question is, are all repro parts the same quality or is some better then others? Ebay has a selection of indicators ranging from 16 quid to 30. I have also seen the offering from Z Power and alike.

So does anybody have first hand experience of purchasing such items please?

quality can be fair, tho may be chromed plastic not chromed alloy. The electrical wire can be skinny and might be good to alter it for normal thickness. Also, where the electrical wire comes out the indicator stalk to go to the loom, it can ( on some cheaper makes) be easy for it to fray against the sharp edge - slipping a bit of shrink wrap sleeving over the bullet then sliding it to the right area then shrinking it will make a failure less likely

I found these on ebay which look very much like the original kawasaki ones, sure would be ok as a 2nd set, keep your original, even come with stems but not quite same as original.

Thanks for that, so are they correct for an A4? my current ones are no like that, although the bike was made to look like a Z1B.

Well mines an A4 and was going to use them on mine, im sure there will be differences to the originals but at a greatly reduced cost, besides nobody can tell when your riding it only when you stop, because theres so few about unless your next to another who'd know? I know anoraks can tell the difference, but as you still have your original ones, youve got a cheap set for day to day use.
Im worst off as mine are more like the Hodna ones with the more rounded lens, but are new bought by prev owner. Im hoping i can just replace the lenses to the flatter Kawasaki ones but its a guess?

I would stick with Zed Power as you know who your dealing with and they know what you're dealing with. And the stuff is likely to be generally better, if not Phil will always stand over it in my experience.

Yes Zpower will def be better quality and nearer to NOS original then the ebay ones.
Although the ones currently on my bike are chromed metal rather then plastic, prob from ebay also, just not correct shape.
Think i may have misunderstood, i thought you just wanted a cheap set to use whilst you had your original set restored/rechromed to keep originalality.
As suggested stick with Zpower all the stuff I've bought from them has been great with speedy delivery too, plus they are extremely helpful.

I had the plan to build it using half decent repro bits, I'd like to keep it looking somewhere near original, the plan is to slowly get it back to std as it has all the original date stamped bits, but to do that now is going to cost big money, I'd rather do it over a couple of years and ride the bike too.

+1 for Z Power. Although I’ve not bought any, I’m pretty sure that their repro indicators are metal bodied and they do look very similar to OEM!

I had exactly the same thoughts with mine, it was a US import and had been altered to suit the prev owners vision, alas not mine, i prefer standard or as near to standard as i can get and afford that is!
Believe me once you start its never ending, spent £000s so far it just goes on and on, the deeper you dig the more you find. A forum member advice was spot on when he said never do a resto yourself its far cheaper and less hassle to buy 1 already done, Ha lesson learnt.
I probably should have done it in stages but thats me in for a penny in for a pound, now all in hopefully have a nice bike at the end of it, to ride and be proud of and bring back them happy 70s carefree days aaah!!! im reminiscing now

I'll never learn, but I am getting a bit more sensible, I know in the long run it costs more but keeping a running riding bike makes more sense, I've done a few in the past and just threw tons of money at it, this way I can ride both the Z and my GT750 this coming year.

You can still purchase the OEM indicators. More money than repro, so depends on what you want and can afford.
