Could anyone please recommend a tyre fitting service/tyre fitter for spoked wheels in my locality - around Chelmsford Essex area?

I can if you fancy a trip over the bridge into nw Kent but there must be an old school bike shop near you. Just stay away from the kwikfit discount type stores unless you want bent disc/s.

Hi Sean, not sure if its any help but a few years ago i restored a Suzuki GT750 which had spoked wheels, both tyres were hard and needed replacement. I found an article online which showed you fitting them yourself by warming up tyre 1st with hot water then using a suitable lubricant, lay a polythene bin liner over the wheel and the tyre pushes on with your fingers, you fit the rim tape to the rim 1st, the inner tube slightly inflated into the tyre and start at the valve.
once on sinply remove the bin liner.
Was a bit scepticle but gave it a try with my new Avon Roadriders the front went on fairly easily, the rear i could get it most of the way but not the final bit, so did end up taking it into a local motorcycle dealers who did it in 30secs on a machine charged me £10, but if you want it balanced thats extra. That said never get mine balanced and had no wobbles or vibration at all, maybe i was lucky? Think only readon rear didnt go on was i didnt get tyre warm enough as rears thicker.
