Tap the case gasket face down a few times on the bench and the windings usually come out.
If they are really stubborn you may have to warm the case to expand it a little.
Hair dryer or hot air stripper usually does the trick.

wait till the wife/ partner's out. Sneak into the kitchen , fill the washing basin half full with boiling water from the kettle then float the case in it ( interior of cover uppermost). Don't overfill it so water gets inside the cover
10 mins later and the alloy cover will have expanded off the stator and the stator will fall out. Use rubber gloves to lift it out cos it'll be hot.
Clean basin well with soapy bubbles and sneak outside with stator, cover and a celebratory beer.
