Key cutting by number
Could someone confirm if this is the chap / chapette that has been used for cutting keys by the number please?

I only have one for Batfink, only one for the GPz11. Both the numbers for these are still visible on the key. I've only got one for the Zeph11 with no number legible. Took the helmet lock off to expose that. What a crap design that is, set of bolt croppers or a hacksaw, cut the hinged hasp to expose the allen key, remove the lock, read the number, have a key made, nick the bike.......
The key I have opened it to reveal the number but am very tempted to take it off.

Shouldn't worry about going through that lot Peter to nick the bike, two headlamp screws, a piece of wire and you can bypass the ignition switch entirely.
Regarding keys, I just go down the local key cutting shop and get copies cut from the one good one.

Thanks Warren, easier said than done in Vacheville. Also the local place would probably charge 20 € a key and the blank would probably look like a shed padlock key.

Re: Key cutting by number
I need a key for a Z650.
I managed to pick the seat lock to get seat and tank off without damaging it, but obviously need to get a proper key. Is the key code usually on the back of the helmet lock or ignition, or can I get one cut from the serial no.? Presuming of course locks are original?

If your helmet lock looks like this then it's written on the back edge

Mine doesn't actually have a helmet lock, it has a hook under the seat. When the seat is looked you can't get to the top of the hook.
Not to worry, The key is the least of my worries at the minute!
Re: Key cutting by number
I found a three digit no. on the barrel face of the seat lock. would this be the same no. as the key? could I get one cut from this no? Or can I get a key code somewhere using the serial no?

Re: Key cutting by number
Yes that would be the key number.
Just message this guy and ask if he can cut that code for you for a Kawasaki.
He hasn't let me down yet.

Re: Key cutting by number
Just an update, didn't get the order in in time for New Year, my fault. Ordered last week, 1 for the ST, 1 for the GPz11, 1 for Batfink, 1 for the Zeph11. Within 4 days.....delivered to the carb smuggler. Very impressed. I would very much recommend him. Ian at Arun Locks
