#1 PostAuthor: r3sc » Tue Nov 01, 2022 9:01 pm

Hello,

Does anyone know if the club has the OEM piston ring compressor tool for KZ650B that is available for loan/hire?

It’s Kawasaki part number 57001-531

If anyone can help please let me know.

Bores have a generous tapper on them. You don't need a ring compressor.

Thanks Warren,

I’ve used one of these before on my A1 and I thought it was a great piece of kit.

Kawasaki obviously thought it was a good idea as well and to be honest, when the time comes to fit the barrels I’d rather have it and not use it than not have it and need it.

I’m a way off fitting the top end yet as the head, barrels and cam cover etc are away for vapour blasting.

Cheers.

I've never had to use one. On one occasion I had a particular bore that had an issue with the taper but a piece of plastic drain pipe about 10mm long and a slice taken out of it to make a closed "C" and a cable tie around it on the rings sorted it.
