Hi guys
How do I go about tightening the rota bolt without having the special tool to hold the rotor and not having the equipment to make one.

Stick the bike in gear and stand on the back brake or use a strap wrench.

Like the man says, a good strong strap wrench will hold it.

Strap wrench turned up today, £12 off Amazon,
The job it was to be used for took less than 15 seconds but worth every penny
Thanks for your advice

Well, a strap wrench helped me too on this job, but try as I might, I dont reckon I am getting more than about 60 ft/lbs on the bolt....

Will that do? Not to spec I know :glare

If not, anyone got a rotor holder tool that I can borrow, near York??

Would somebody confirm this method before Gavin goes ahead?

If it has Alloy wheels, put a STRONG piece of wood (with some cloth wrapped around it for protection) through the rear wheel under the swing arm both sides.

Put it in gear and tighten the rotor bolt so that the wheel spoke is hard up against the wood which is then held up hard against the underside of the swing arm.

Tighten the rotor bolt.

Thanks Gus

The wood between alloy wheel and swingarm did the trick....95 ft/lbs achieved. Phew, much appreciated!

Now back on with the cover.
