An update.
I very recently sorted it out and I was wrong and it wasn't the timing at all.
It was the DFi box connector.
I was going over as many connections as I could and I jiggled the Dfi connector with the engine running and the revs changed, it also caused the green light to flash a engine temp fault.
I cleaned the engine temp sensor itself and the wire. It improved but not brilliant.
I then removed all of the wires in the Dfi push fit connector as they were wobbly and affected the running. I soldered all of the crimps and squeezed up the female connectors so they were tight.
Put it back together and all was good. I took it out for a spin and ran well.
