I've heard the riding out there is amazing - albeit a little wet from time to time!
I'm tempted for sure.
Ferry to Denmark then ride up through Sweden then? |

Just so you guys have an idea. When I spoke with Obr he said it would be necessary to take a ferry to Esbjerg, cross Denmark and then take another ferry to Oslo. That way not so many bike miles would be covered.
Distances seem larger than we might think as the ferry from Denmark to Norway (Oslo) takes 20 hours. If you were to go by Frederikshaven to Gothenburg it is 1,500km (from Hook of Holland) by road. Therefore I think it will take 3 or 4 days to get there by bike and the distance is close on 1000miles assuming that Hook of Holland was your crossing point to the continent.
Apparently there used to be a ferry from Newcastle to Larvik which is a lot closer. There is a rumour that this will possibly be reinstated. _________________ What did you say your name was ? |

John from the Midlands rode up on his own to the Nordkap and I think he took in the rally on the way.
It was in the magazine. _________________ What did you say your name was ? |

Hmmmm
Gets worse the more you look.
100% certain there are NO direct sailings to Norway - last was cancelled in 2008.
Did a costing for return sailing to Denmark and this came out at £422 depart 30 June returning 5 July. The service doesn't run every day so these dates seemed the most realistic.
Then Copenhagen to Oslo leg is coming in at £294.
So that'll be over £700 before you've even seen a chuffin' Fjord!
Yowch! |

I just did a calculation with 4 sharing a cabin as we did last year to Germany and it came out at £160 each ! And the Copenhagen to Oslo at £121 each.
It is a 200 mile ride from Esbjerg to Copenhagen. _________________ What did you say your name was ? |
